replace carpet pad::To dry just pull back carpet to get under to padding, cut wet area, set out to dry, when dried install back with duct tape.
Now if it got wet with urine, muddy water, etc, then that makes more sense to replace that area.
I also had weights sitting on the floor and there are rust stains on the carpet itself.
Maybe the stains would come out as well.
In my opinion there is no way, no how, on getting rust stains out with any type of chemical.
